Hi, I'm Sierra
I'm so glad you're here!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the internet dedicated to providing first-time moms with all the information you need. From tips for pregnancy and labor to advice on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and navigating the challenges of mom life, I'm here to support you through this! My goal is to create a supportive community and share real experiences to help you feel informed and empowered throughout your motherhood journey.
I'm a mama of two crazy kiddos located in Idaho, and I am passionate about motherhood. I'm an extraverted introvert, standing tall at 5'11", and I absolutely love a good Zumba dance session.
As a college student, I worked as a transcriptionist at a nonprofit called The Wheatley Institute and helped transcribe over 40 qualitative research interviews of highly educated women who have five or more kids. Listening to their experiences brought me to tears countless times, and those women had a profound impact on me by seeing how full a mother's life can be (in all senses of the word) by raising good humans. What would humanity even be without the diligent, hard work of moms for thousands of years? Those interviews were later published in the book Hannah's Children: The Women Quietly Defying the Birth Dearth and I highly recommend it.
Fast forward a year later, and I was holding my first baby in my arms. I was exhausted from a long, LONG labor, anxious from the literal chaos of 2020, lonely because my husband and I had just left our college town and moved into my parents' basement so that he could go to medical school, and completely and utterly lost in motherhood. I didn't know who I was anymore. I felt blessed to have such a beautiful daughter, but I also remember crying/praying on my living room floor at 2am because I couldn't escape my own thoughts to get any sleep between nursing sessions.
Now I look back and want to hug her.
Community is 11/10 SO IMPORTANT for new moms, and I didn't have one.
I hope that this isn't your experience. But if it is, please repeat after me.
Your body will heal.
You are doing enough.
You are in control of your life.
Now I still have hard days, but I can honestly say that I love being a mom. I hope I can be there for other moms entering this stage of life too.
Send me a message to say hi, or ask me anything!!
xoxo,
Sierra
